Indicators for Assessing Infant and Young Child Feeding: Part I Definitions
In contrast to a strong consensus on exclusive breastfeeding up to 6 months of age, the lack of international consensus on simple indicators of appropriate feeding practices for children 6-23 months has hampered progress in measuring and improving Infant and Young Child Feeding practices and infant and young child nutritional outcomes.
The Indicators for assessing infant and young child feeding practices: Part I Definitions, describes eight core and seven optional indicators that are population-based and can be derived from household survey data, such as the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) and the Knowledge, Practice and Coverage Surveys (KPC).
